The Kursaal Congress Palace in Donostia - San Sebastian has been chosen as the setting to celebrate the 5th World Congress of Basque Communities abroad 2011.
In addition to the structure of previous congresses, several parallel activities will be carried out in this one, which will complement the conferences of the Congress itself:
- Congressional work sessions; within the overall program, the seminar "Euskal Herria Mugaz Gaindi" will be held, consisting on a monographic session on citizenship abroad
- Talks to school children, in order to further develop study materials for the school curriculum on Basque immigration
- Audiovisual presentations, in which several new documentaries on Basque emigration will be shown
- Literary presentations, where several award-winning books, edited and / or acquired by the Department for the Basque Citizens and Communities abroad, will be presented
- Basque Community Fair, with many "stands" of Basque and foreign institutions in which they will exhibit their own products and activities
Except for the work sessions, which are exclusively for delegates and previously accredited observers, the rest of the activities are open to the general public, aiming to spread the subject of the Basque emigration to all the citizens in the Basque Country.
