MIREN AZKARATE VILLAR

     Born in San Sebastián on November 1955. Married with 2 daughters.

 

     Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Deusto.

 

     Holder of a Doctorate in Basque Philology from the University of the Basque Country.

 

     Lecturer at the Faculty of Basque Philology, teaching Morphosyntax and Lexicology at the San Sebastián campus of the University of Deusto 1978-1988.

 

     Lecturer at the University of the Basque Country since 1988. Professor of Basque Philology.

 

     Scholar of morphology and syntax involved in various research projects, congresses and publications.

 

     Numerary member of Euskaltzaindia[1] since 1992. Tutoring Adviser 1995-2000. Member of the Committee on Grammar and Euskara Batua.

 

     Deputy Rector for the Basque Language at the University of the Basque Country (1996-1997), under the rectorate of Pello Salaburu, and Deputy Rector for Teaching Staff (1997- 2000).

 

     Basque Government Minister for Culture since July 2001 and Basque Government Spokesperson since January 2004.
