Without doubt, sports, gastronomy and Basque traditions are very important over "Fiestas Vascas". On the one hand, La Concha Bay plays host to the traditional rowing regatta contest, which will give way to the first Female Flag contest this year. On the other hand, sports events have been arranged as follows: wood chopping contest, Basque pelota, swim crossing and Urgull cross-country running. There will also be room for gastronomy. Cider Day (Sagardo Eguna or Día de la Sidra), markets offering products with label quality certificate, handicrafts and an organic farming fair. Performances by "trikitilaris" -players of a two-row Basque diatonic button accordion-, txistularis –Basque flute players-, bertsolaris –singers of extemporary composed songs in Basque- and dantzaris –performers of Basque dances- will not be missing.
To finish off, it is worth listing activities such as "trikitixa", lectures on poetry at Victoria Eugenia Theatre's Sala Club, children's activities, a popular "sardinada" –where people gather together in order to have a meal consisting of sardines- different, tastings, "Pixka bat es mucho" in concert and music performances by The Uskis and Loquillo.

15th Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival

Rioja Alavesa Harvest Festival was held in 1994 in Laguardia for the first time. This is the 15th time it will be celebrated in the area of Kripan, on September 14th to be precise. The massively attended event attempts to make the tourists acquainted with the inhabitants' way of life, and specially, with the wine as the main product in the region's development.
Once again, the steadfast festival will kick off with the traditional 'pregón' (opening speech) giving way then to Rioja Alavesa wine tasting. The event will be liven up with the local dancing groups. Later at 12:30pm the Great Wood-chopping Contest will take place.
Following the traditional meal set to start at 2pm the finals of the 13th Pelota Tournament will be played.
In addition, games and activities have been arranged for the little ones together with music and streets bands, craftworks and rural products with Label quality certificate.
